I need to know where I can buy replacement parts (corners) for the new re-tooled 5x5x5 Rubik's cube. If there is a way to make a corner piece from an older version thinner that would help as well. Thanks.
I thinking breaking 5x5x5's are a thing from the past now.
My first 5x5x5 had a broken core within the first month
The next 5x5x5 had a broken corner within the first month
The next 5x5x5 had A LOT of broken "corner-centers" within 2 months
All my other 5x5x5's haven't broken anything at all for the last 18 months. Sometimes they become very loose, but that could just be because I play with it quite a lot.
Arnaud, that sounds like overly optimistic thinking on your part. NOTHING lasts forever, and Rubiks 5x5x5's break sooner than most things. What do you think is the difference between your first three 5x5x5's and the rest? The retooled version wasn't available 18 months ago, so that couldn't be it. Is there a difference in your usage? Either way, sooner or later the cubes or their parts and pieces will break. Let's hope it's later.
Mmm Pasta - have you tried cubesmith? I don't know if he has retooled parts yet, but he could probably advise you as to whether or not there is a way to modify your old parts. If you go to the website www.cubesmith.com you'll find a link where you can email him.
Maybe my style has become better, but that doesn't explain the center-wings. Those used to "twist in place" and break of every now and then. Now, they still "twist in place", but they never break of anymore. Maybe there was a bad bunch 2 years ago?
