Hey, everyone!

My name is Peter, and I'm in my early 30s. I first learned to solve a Rubik's cube when I was given a 25th Anniversary cube for my birthday in 2005. I learned with some strange method that involved leaving one slot in the first two layers unsolved until you started solving the top layer edge pieces. I don't remember where I learned it, but it was good enough for me back then.

Fast forward to December of this year, and I picked up my old Rubik's cube to play with it, and I couldn't remember how to solve it. I couldn't find the old method I used, so I ended up learning how to solve using the standard beginner's method. After looking at endless YouTube videos on cubing and browsing around the subreddit for cubing, I was hooked.

Since my old Rubik's brand cube is very stiff and is only a bit better after wearing it down with Vaseline, I asked for a Dayan ZhanChi for Christmas. By then, I was solving around 1:30 average. My fiance got me two stickerless ZhanChis, one with our engagement photo on it (which was a nice touch!) Once I started using my ZhanChi, I quickly shaved off 30 seconds off my time.

After what has to be over 1,500 solves on the ZhanChi, I'm now using F2L and 4LLL, and averaging around 40 seconds. Here's my best stats for the interested:

PB: 25.757
Ao5: 32.627
Ao12: 35.311
Ao100: 40.153

I'm currently waiting for the below shipment from The Cubicle, and am excited to start trying out some new cubes:

Stickerless Dayan 2x2
Black MoYu AoLong V2
Black on Primary FangShi ShuangRen 54.6mm DIY
Purple Dayan ZhanChi
Stickerless Cyclone Boys 4x4

In terms of getting better, I'm currently working on practicing finger tricks and faster algs, improving my F2L, and eventually starting on full PLL.

I don't really have any questions to ask, as there is a multitude of resources available all over the place that have helped me out so much. However, if any of you have any tips or suggestions for me, I would be very happy to hear them. Thanks to everyone, and I'm looking forward to using the forums!
