[WR] Rami Sbahi - 0.58 2x2 Single and 1.55 Average

To the people saying Rami wasn't part of the communication process; communication implies a source and a receiver, both of which are part of the process. You can say Rami wasn't emitting information, but it seems incredibly silly to argue that he was not part of the communication process.

There are many things wrong with what you've said, but tbh I don't care enough to get into detail.

Wouldn't pointing a couple of them out take around the same amount of time it took you to write this message? You know, since there are so many wrong things in there that are apparently so evident to you.

Hm, interesting, so that kid might not be the pure evil after all.
Does that mean that the decision was made without even contacting the kid to try and get as much information about the story as possible before deciding?

So, he wasn't in the competition area AND he wasn't part of the communication process AND the decision is at the discretion of the delegate.

Sorry, but there's 3 reasons why Rami's record could be allowed under this reg.

The only reason people have for DQing Rami is that he BROKE this reg. Well, the reg allows for wiggle room just like most regs. There's delegates and a board for a reason. They can decide what is FAIR, and what is FAIR is more important than some words written on a piece of paper. Stop making this so black and white.

Does that make it legal to cheat? No. It makes it so the board has the right to decide on a CASE-BY-CASE basis what is the right decision and what isn't. Any argument that this means the board allows cheating is nothing more than a slippery-slope fallacy.

Ok I get you point about not breaking any regs, but I still don't see why he should get the solve given the huge advantage that he received.
What is fair? Is it fair that a competitor goes up to do his solve knowing that it will take four moves? Is it fair that I am not as fast as Felicks? If so, why don't I get to bypass some regs?

As the board stated, neither result is fair, but it's more fair to give Rami the record than to take it away from him.

If we generated 100 scrambles, and randomly distributed 10 4 move solutions throughout, I would bet that Rami would break 0.69 on at least half of them.

Your speed vs. Feliks has nothing to do with the discussion. I really don't understand your point. It's plenty fair that Feliks is faster than you. Rami already had a WR average in 2x2. It's no fluke that he has it again.

Huh? Why would I know anything about that? :)

I am neither a current board member, nor part of the WDC. Hence, you shouldn't expect me to know more about the whole story than you do.

Oh, my bad, just assumed you were in somehow because of the first 2 sentences in your previous post.

Why??

Why him keeping it is fair:
- Every competitor at this competition had this scramble
- Rami did not actively attempt to cheat
- He actually didn't break the regulations as they are written verbatim
- He was honest and didn't try to hide what happened
- In all likelyhood, he would have gotten the WR anyway on this scramble. His track record proves he's good enough.

Why taking it away would be fair:
- He possibly got a slight advantage by knowing it was a 4 move solution ahead of time.
- The rule can be interpreted in a way to say he broke it (even though he didn't break the rule as it's written)

Anyway, that's the last I'll be checking this thread.

Most of the arguments in this thread appear to rely on mis-information. This is not what happened: Kid gets scramble and goes to Rami in the competitor's area and tells him that he will get this easy scramble so he should practise it and get an official WR. The truth is far from that.
I won't divulge until the WDC investigation is over though.
