So I originally put Vaseline in my cube after about two years of solving it with no lubricant, and then washed it (after if found out it was bad), and sprayed it with silicone. My friend today who also does cubing asked me to spray his after he has had it for two months (he had Vaseline in his), but after finishing the lube I tested it and it felt a lot better that mine. Is this because it had just been sprayed? or because I have had mine longer? should you respray your cubes with silicone?

Don't put Vaseline in your cubes. It ruins them. Cubes are different, and if by "respray", you mean re-lube, you should re-lube around once a month, or at least until your cube is dry.

If it's a storebought cube, then vaseline can help out in the breaking-in process, as long as you don't leave it in too long. If it's any other cube, it will probably hurt it. As for the spray, there's nothing wrong with using it.
