is there any official rule regarding this? cause i saw there are more types of 3x3x3 for example. from small to big as 10cm*10cm... if i remember right

the same question for 5x5x5 & 4x4x4 cubes ? is there any standard dimension? how big (in cm) are the eastsheens 4 and 5's (cubes)? or is there a single size for them?

i hope my question is not confusing

No there isn't any regulations on size. As long as the cube meets all of the WCA regulations, it is ok to use. Adam Zamora has been using his giant 2x2 alot in competition. Also, both eastsheen and rubik's bigcubes are allowed. The eastsheens are both 6cm while the rubik's are larger.

lol...that's funny... a 2x2x2 bigger than a 5' one :d

ok. i got the point. thanks for the answers. so, as a second question, what 5x5x5 would you suggest? i already ordered eastsheen from cube4you. but do you guys find the 5x5x5 from rubik better? because they are bigger are they also easier to handle? which is the most common used 5x5x5 cube?

and btw...where can i find such a big cube as zamora has?
ps- the link doesn't work for me.

RE: 5x5x5 East Sheen vs Rubiks
The mechanism (old one, post 2000) is annoying on my Rubik's 5x5x5. Despite being bigger it's much harder to turn than the East Sheen 5x5x5 that I've. It's quite frankly annoying as hell to attempt to speed cube with my Rubik's 5x5x5

RE: 2x2x2 Big Cube
I think he may've custom made it. I recall seeing a thread over at the twisty forum about how to make it. I think it was by using a East Sheen 2x2x2 mechanism and then getting transparent golf ball containers etc :-P

Tim.

Tim: You are correct about the ES 2x2x2 + golf ball containers. It is no longer functional though.
pablobaluba: the link does work for me and the Eastsheen/Rubiks has been done so often that I will just summarize: Eastsheens are good, but get bad. Rubiks are bad, but get good. At Worlds, most people (but not all) prefer Rubiks

I prefer Meffert's along with Rama. New Eastsheen's are great, but get bad with use. I keep one of each size (4 and 5) that I almost never use, just incase i feel like using it for a competition. My new meffert's is great because its' a rubik's w/ adjustable tensions. That 2x2 was extremely fun to see. It was the size of an outstreched hand.

You have to break in rubik's big cubes. It usually entails ending up grinding plastic, and such. There is a mod that you can do on the 5x5 that they implemented in the new design, so it's not really necessary.
