Hi! I have a question to those of you who are a little more experienced with computers than I am :)
Could there be a way to connect your speedstack timer to the computer and use it on qqtimer?
I mean like you don't change QQtimer code (of course :P) but you convince the computer that the speedstack
timers insert is spacebar. Like as if the timer were a keyboard with only spacebar :)
Is that possible and if so how?

At the moment, no. The Stackmat timers work on a sound signal thats passed through the audio port, so you would still need an interpreter that works to attach and decode the singnal, once you've done this, you could set if up however you wanted, but for now, no it isn't possible without altering the code.

Ok. What's an interpreter? ^^ Maybe it could work if someone made a program that converts the sound signal to space input?

Well, the code would be the same as any program that uses the stackmat timer properly as it is (PPT, CCT). The code is being developed for web right now. If you mean a program not attached that just converts it to a space key press, it would be easier just to put it in the timer.

Well, actually it is possible without altering qqtimer's code. You just need some external tool which triggers the spacebar every time the Stackmat is being started/stopped. I believe this doesn't exist yet, though.
(Speaking of it: It might be a good idea to replace our current Stackmat implementations which such a browser plugin/application — in Mac OS X it could be a System preference pane. We could make it very robust and keep it up to date and every speedcubing timer will just work with a stackmat timer without any further work.)

Anyway, I probably disagree:

Heh, Fair enough, I suppose it would be easier to write our own plugins, than depending on different implementations per timer. Also, it would be easier to update for different types of timers, obviously then you don't get the full experience of using the timer, but as a basic implementation, it would be pretty handy. I would be happy to help out with making it if we do this, I seem to be one of the very few people to still use IE, and I would want it to work for me, so I'll troubleshoot it all. ;)

Actually, there is something that was on kickstarter.com in June and it did exactly that. You could place some wire thingy somewhere and everytime it was pressed down it would act like a key was pressed. So you could make it so when the stackmat is touched it is like the spacebar. But it would probably be hard to make it so that when you press BOTH sides it will be like spacebar
