Practicing - How?

Funny, I've been practicing for about a day and the only problem I'm facing with my left hand is that it can't do thumb pushes :( I can still barely manage L'UL, but LFL' is just impossible. Practice practice practice :) But before I go on to hardcore practice, any tips?

I have always been quite overwhelmingly right-handed (although I do OH cubing with my left hand, which I learned to do so that I could juggle with my right hand while solving).

Notice on the hand you write with, that the pad of your thumb is huge compared to the pad on your non-dominant hand.
Really? Maybe yours is, but mine is the same on both hands, at least if I understand what you mean by "pad of your thumb".

Now compare the flexibility of your thumbs by moving them in circles.
Again, mine seem the same. In fairness, I do play piano, so that might have led to a difference with other people because I've trained both hands.

Be careful of those blanket statements. Sometimes not all of us fit your stereotypes lol.

:) :) :)

haha I suppose I deserve that ;-) For some reason I've always had this sort of caveman, mash pencil to paper writing style ever since I was young. I have terrible handwriting, as you can probably guess. I remember even back in 5th grade the pad of my thumb would get tired on things like writing tests where I had to write a lot, and would sometimes cramp up at the end. Also on college essay tests it was the same way, at the end of the test the pad of my thumb would always be sore or tired. I guess I'm just weird like that because of my writing style lol.

And yes, I'll watch the blanket statements in the future heh heh ;-)

I just found out that my left hand is better with L , L' turns.. my right hand is better with U turns..but it is harder for my right hand to do R, R' turns.. so it's way much easier for me to perform L' U' L U than R U R' U'... so guess I have to search for algorithms with more L + U moves than R + U moves..

My U2 is almost exclusively a U2' during f2l, because ive gotten it ridiculously fast, but i like to keep a nice balance during LL for some reason... ive decided i now hate my J', and im gonna have to learn a new one...

My brother is left handed, and I'm right handed. He does everyting from throw, kick, punch (usually me) with his right hand. Yet he writes with his left. So, if you use one for long enough, it becomes a lot faster.

As for the pads of the thumbs, mine are the same too. I have small fingers, and I am a very neat writer, I dont use the "caveman" :D) grip on my pencil like cris does.

Back on topic...
F2L is the main thing for everyone to practice in there solves because if you imagine cross as one alg, F2L as 4, OLL as one and PLL as one then you have more than half of the solve done in f2L!
Or you could think of it a simpler way. When you've finished F2L, you have two out of the three layers finished! Then OLL PLL are for the third/last layer. :D

Yeah I know you're talking about steps, not the actual cube solve. Still, it works. :D

One odd thing I noticed is that RUR'U' and such moves are easy with right hand, but LUL'U' is basically impossible, I end up doing LUL'B' or something or pop.
Funny thing is that my left hand is pretty good at U, U' triggers, but suck at everything else for 2H solves, especially, I do F' using only Right hand and F is impossible for Left, except during OH with regrip.

When I learnt the PLLs, I was lazy so I learnt half of them basically and tried to mirror them with the left hand to achieve the "mirror" result instead of learning all the algorithms properly. Should I try and learn all the algs for the right hand? Will it hamper me later on? It only seems to make a small-ish difference right now but my PLLs are really slow anyway. (around 5-8 seconds)
