How long does it usually take for someone to get down to 30 sec average if they started at a minute average?

I've been cubing for a month now and my average is still a minute...:fp

There are plenty of threads on here on how to lower your times. You should probably use the search function. Also look at the How To Get Faster Using Fridrich Method (this has a timeline in it). It's a word document in one thread, and it's contents are pasted into another thread. It is also on the wiki. There is also a How to be Sub20 thread. Please note that everybody's timeline is different, and the one given in the Fridrich method thread are about somebody who practices right, and practices hard.
