what about big cube explosions and diansheng FTO explosions? I had a big pop with my mgc a couple months back

In my experience cubes pop a lot.

Skewb explodes/pops a lot of the times and it takes A LOT of time to repair it, here is an example

this happened a lot with my gan skewb, just misalign the 2 corners connected to the core and slide it under the corner
