PLL practice drill idea

I wanted to see what CFOP step I was the worst at, and it turned out to be PLL. So I came up with a practice drill to practice it:
  1. In csTimer, set the "Multi-phase" option to 2, because we will record 2 times at once.
  2. Do the scramble, and solve F2L (or, if you don't use full OLL, solve F2L + EO).
  3. Recognize the OLL (or CO), and then, without looking at the cube, execute CO and cover the cube.
  4. Lift the cover and press space at the same time.
  5. When you're done recognizing your PLL, press space again and start turning.
  6. When the cube is solved, press space one more time.
After doing this, you should have both a recognition time and an execution time for the PLL.

Are you specifically trying to quantify recognition and execution phases of PLL times? You’ll never do just one without out the other and I’d say they should be practiced together.

I’m not sure I see the point in having them seperated unless you just really want the data. I’d you’re convinced on practicing this way I’d recommend using a PLL trainer like what is on Jperms site (I’m sure there are many others) - Do the scramble then implement your 2 phase method. This way you’re only practicing PLL and not the previous steps to get to LL - your practice time is more focused on the weakness you are training.

Alternatively you could just use a PLL trainer since that allows you to practice all of PLL at once, just like you’d do it in solves.
