To kick discussion off, what sports, athletes and teams are you guys watching?
I’m going to be watching most events because Team New Zealand is competing in most sports!

Worst opening sequence, possibly of all time in my opinion. Everything felt amateur and uncoordinated. It felt more like a trip down the river than a grand event in my opinion.

I'm mostly going to watch basketball for the Olympics but I might watch some other sports.

Watching out for Team USA, who for basketball are severely underperforming so far in the exhibition matches

NBC is where a lot of the coverage is on, but if you want everything recorded, or close to everything, try the streaming service Peacock, as it has most replays of events

I only really care to watch track and 800 through 10K is where I spend most of my Olympic attention. Half marathon and marathon is cool as well.

Korea has won Women's team archery since it was added to the Olympics. I'm really hoping they don't screw up, so we can enjoy that sweet 10 consecutive wins.

Watch track & field since last year, can't wait to see so many athletes head to head in Olympics:

K. Thompson, Noah, Siville and Simbine in men's 100 metres

Josh & Jakob for men's 1500m

Sydney & Bol in women's 400 meters hurdle (400mH)

Jamaica and US women's 100 & 200m

Noah (again), Kenny, Tebogo, Knighton for the podium in men's 200m.


Also some athletes may break the WR:

Sydney (her own women's 400mH WR)
Jakob (Men's 1500m ER [=WR4] holder)
Sedjati & Wanyonyi (got men's 800m WR3 and WR4 earlier this month)

(Btw, hope Chuan-Hui Yang, a para-athlete from my country, can get his first Paralympic men's long jump medal. He got 4th place in 2016 and 2020, both of his results are 8cm away to podium)

Very excited for Table Tennis. Lots of competitors from small/underdeveloped countries which will be exciting to see, it's nice to have variety.
