Is it possible to solve f2l in a way so that oll is only a few possibilities? Im very new im am just able to do white cross and f2l by heart so im not even sure if this is a valid question.

You can force-skip edge orientation by doing the last F2L pair in a certain way so that you orient the last layer edges in the process. Most of this is generally done intuitively by sometimes using a sledgehammer (R' F R F') instead of a normal insert (U R U' R'). There are also large algorithm sets like VLS that allow you to completely skip OLL, but you likely wouldn't want to do that at this point in time, because they still require learning a lot of algorithms; they're just different ones. Since you're a beginner though, I'd recommend learning 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL. They're only about 7 algorithms each, and it's generally easier to grasp than doing edge orientation during F2L.

It is a good question! Basically, when you make the last pair and are about to insert it, you can look and see which edges on top are yellow. Based on the case you have, you can apply 1 of 8 algorithms and get a cross on top every time, meaning that there are only 7 OLLs to learn. 15 algorithms total is much less than 57. Here they are:

Thank you for the very detailed explanation ill make sure to studdy up on the 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL
