OLL in 1 alg!!! Edit delete this

Hi well this is my first post but I saw one part of a method tht helped me to do OLL in one step with only usage of an alg 1-2 and it only requires one alg from the beginners method

http://www.rubiks.com/World/~/media/Files/Solution_book_LOW_RES.ashx

on page 7, it explains how to get the top layer all yellow but not aligned

Hope my knowledge helped.

Edit: the pages are numbered and the alg is not mine but I found a way to use it as OLL

First off, welcome to the forums!

I am not sure I am quite following you, are you using 1 alg over and over to finish the top layer? Or are you using 1 alg 1 time to finish it? because the latter would be quite astounding! especially if you only know that one alg and it works every time

Hi, welcome to the forums!

The alg I think you are talking about is called the Sune and it can indeed be used to orientate the corners of the last layer.

However, the reason we use so many algs in OLL is so that we only have to execute an alg once. Using the Sune, however, you could potentially have to do it twice, not to mention the fact that you must first orientate the top layer edges, as the Sune does not effect their orientation.

Guys, no flame!

Well you do the alg twice in the right position after you get the cross to get the entire layer same as beginner method line up cross alg

I think you might have to wait for a Mod to do it for you, I'm not entirely sure!

I wouldn't worry too much about it, to be honest. The Sune is a very good alg, just also quite well known. :) Don't let this put you off posting on the forums!

All cleared out the alg in fact is the sune but using the sune twice if the left corner is facing left, you do the alg twice to get the complete yellow face.

I will admit, I didn't know this when I first started. I would just put a yellow piece not already oriented at the front left side, and do sune. From 2 edges oriented, this would take me to 0, and then to 1, and if that 1 was the anti-sune, I'd still do 2 more.

I think this is a pretty cool thing to discover on your own, so don't feel like you posted something useless =)

Hope my knowledge helped.

Your what?

And you're not even talking about OLL but just about orienting the LL corners.

he's kinda talking about OLL. The sune is used in 2LOLL. Orienting LL corners is a subset to orienting the Last layer, often shortened to OLL =P

don't be too mean to the new guy, he corrected himself =)

Okay u get the cross first and on the left front corner, if it's facing left, u do the sune twice to get the finished oll step
Please, stop! I think you're only starting to make things worse! :p

What Stefan is getting at is that the Sune only affects the orientation of the last layer corners. As you said, you must first "get the cross" or orientate the last layer edges. (Also, free tip: Don't argue with Stefan! He's usually right and not afraid to be quite cutting about it. ;))

However, (full) OLL will orientate all of the last layer edges and corners at the same time, with only one execution of an algorithm. And the reason there are so many algs is because there are so many possible cases.
