do you forget your OLLs, or any algorithms for that matter, after long bouts of cubelessness? another hobby is unfortunately overshadowing my speedcubing. juggling :D. everyone here probably cubes everyday so id bet it doesnt happen much to anyone here haha. does it happen to you?

got any tips on keeping my OLLs fresh other than cubing everyday? :D

Of course, if you don't use some algorithms frequently you can forget them. Sometimes it even happens to me for algs that I know really well. It seems if I start "thinking" about an alg, I can forget it, and then no matter what I do, I wont remember it again unless I look it up.
Just last night, I forgot how to do sune on the 2x2, even though its one of my most well-known algs.

It also helps if you actually "know" your alg. And I don't mean know how to perform it, I mean learn it until you know what's going on, what it looks like, what makes it work, etc. If you do that, you'll most likely never forget it no matter how much you neglect 'cubing.

well i "knew" all the OLLs. just forgot a few of them. my best single is 15.36 so its not like i didnt know them.

I meant become so incredibly familiar with them that muscle memory isn't the only thing that you remember it by. Visualize each turn as it's being done. Watch exactly HOW the pieces are being oriented, and HOW F2L is being preserved at the same time.

[preemptive strike]And if you think that 57 algs is a lot of algs to learn that way (not to learn, to learn that way), I call bull. In one week I learned 48 algs in that manner, and I can remember them all a ton better than just muscle memory[/preemptive strike]

I practice every day, and this also happen to me, even with the algs I use most, it doesn't matter if I know it perfectly and have practiced it for a long time, if I start thinking about the moves of the alg... I mess the cube and forget the alg, and no matter how hard I try to remember it, I can't, I just have to look again the alg.

well muscle memory isnt the only tool i use to know how to execute algorithms. i do look at how the pieces move, usually by looking at the green pieces (cross color). but i know that isnt the whole thing youre talking about. but i probably should learn my OLLs like that.

Naw, you've got the idea. Now go deeper. (That's what she said). It is a lot of work though, especially with a predominate hobby in place.

I had this problem the other day with OH, after practicing only 2H for a few days. After I tried to remember the alg, I couldn't do it two-handed either. Muscle memory is a weird thing. It's probably because I haven't been solving OH that long - I almost never forget algs in normal solving anymore.

I can remember all my algorithms until I try and WRITE them down for a friend.
Then, I forget everything and have to spend the next 5 minutes recalling ><

sometimes I just need a little reminder. I have to do the T perm or something and I can't remember it, then I just have to glance at the alg sheet for just a second and it comes back to me.
