Hello everybody, I wanted to make this thread to explore different non-wca events, get somewhat good at them, and then share some tips and my opinion on whether they should become an official event or not. I'd love to see any of the events I try here being discussed, and I'm happy to take suggestions as well. I'll be updating this post with my thoughts on each event whenever I finish a new ao1000 too.
Next event will probably be redi cube, or maybe FTO, so stay tuned for that.
Best Single: 15.92 (last layer skip with no auf)
Best ao5: 23.67
Best ao12: 25.15
Best ao100: 26.97
ao1000: 36.41
First/Worst Solve: 2:18.50
Last Solve: 18.32
So the first 200 solves or so were just me getting used to the kilominx and how it's solved. I wanted to experiment with different ways of doing things efficiently and solving the last layer better. I learned a couple of OLLs and realized that there were only 3 PLLs, not however many I thought there were to begin with. At around 300 solves, I began the magnetizing process. I messed a lot of it up the first time, lost the motivation to fix it and I had a ton of schoolwork to do so I put it away for a while. When school ended, I finished the magnetization and it was instantly much better. My ao100 dropped from 41 to sub 30 in just a few days, where I remained until today, just managing to break past sub 27 at the end.
So should kilominx actually be an event? Some pros:
because I'm bad at mega. I'd also describe it like building the first layer in 2x2, but extended and much more enjoyable with a lot more freedom to pursue different solutions. Kilominx is a unique event that is well deserving of a spot in the WCA.

So should kilominx actually be an event? Some pros:
- Incredibly spectator friendly, it's right in the sweet spot where it isn't too fast or slow.
- No big entry gate, you can solve one intuitively and there are very few algs that you have to learn to be fast. (i'd go for full PLL and a few OLLs, so not much)
- Combines the best aspects of different events (I'll talk about this later)
- Not too similar to megaminx
- Would it be kibi or kilo? Or even 2x2 megaminx/dodecahedron?
- Not great hardware
- ???
- Difficult to recognize CLL cases at the most advanced level
