New Meffert's Skewb: Mechanism/Comparison

Following Odder's announcement, I bet some of us have been hoping for a true improvement on the current Meffert's Skewb. Although they might not seem substancial, do the changes to the pieces can be of significance to the performance of the cube?
I tried to match the angle of the photos for a more accurate comparison..
