Hi, I've just recently joined the Rubiks cube forums. I have a lot of questions which apply to all areas of the forum but have decided to compile a list of questions and put the in the begginers area. I am not a begginer, I've been solving for over a year and my record is 0:57 for the 3x3x3 and 7:13 for th 4x4x4.
1) I still use the begginers method but I want to learn one of the more advanced speed cubing methods, I searched on google and got a million results. which method is the fastest and easiest and can some one post a good tutorial on it. Also are there any speed cubing methods on the 4x4x4?
2) I still use a normal rubiks brand rubiks cube from walmart, but ive heard that the DIY cubes turn better. Is it possible to make a regular cube turn as well as a Diy cube, if not which one is best for me.(I just want a cube that cuts corners well and turns easily)
3)Are there any good tutorials for blindfolded cubing?

Thanks in advance

Hi there :)

1. Try one of the following:

Waterman ( I would really recommend this, ATM I having tons of fun with it)
Petrus
Roux
Fridrich

2. Push down on the sides hard and grind them together. it makes it smoother after a while. As for corner cutting, some storeboughts are great, other not. If you're gonna get a DIY I would recommend:

Ghost hands
Type D
Type F
C4U DIY

they are all good cubes ( and realitivly cheap)

3.yes tons. I would recommend 3OP or Classic Pochmann. They are easy to understand and easy to use.

There are many different kinds of method. There's not really one that's the best or fastest. Try some to see what's best for you. I'm personally learning the Fridrich method. And I'm sure if you check youtube you'll find many great vids.
http://www.cdf.toronto.edu/~g6karpat/plls/pll.html -This is the same alg from cubewhiz where I got mine, but he has it order to which you should learn first.
http://badmephisto.mine.nu/site/oll.php or http://www.cubewhiz.com/oll.html -Here's OLL

You can also try searching the forums for help.

For 4x4 here http://www.speedsolving.com/wiki/index.php/4x4x4_Speedsolving_Methods I don't know any of them but you can look here for other methods.

2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTDblHV-NMU -You could try this on your storebought.
For DIY look through this http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12659 - It talks about the types.

3) For BLD try this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xT2UBYhX5uM - This is the one I'm learning from. It's pretty much the Classic/Old Pochman.

Well welcome. I hope you enjoy yourself here. I'm sure you'll find many interesting things here. If you want to learn more just try the search function or look on youtube.
