hi,

first of all, sorry for my bad english :)

i'm really new to cubing, and my only cube is one of tose crapy plastic cubes.
i was going to buy myself a F-II for 12.95$ from e-bay, when my friend told me that this cube isn't good and it spin badly.

is it right?
is there any other cube i should buy?
and, is the price is reasonable?

thaks a lot

great! so... what is the meaning of those numbers after the Alpha (Alpha I,II, III, V, etc...)?

I don't really know, but I'm guessing that there is no real meaning, but they're just used to tell the difference between all the cubes that are made by the Alpha company (although I'm not sure if that's actually what their company is called).

so i should order an alpha I? becouse the higher numbers are more expensive..

No, the good cubes at the moment are Guhong, Alpha V, F2. Those are all great cubes. I wouldn't waste your money on an 'ok' cube unless you're really strapped for cash.

f2 is a good cube. currently the most popular cube is a dayan guhong cube. alpha 5 cube is good as well. as someone mentioned, it depends on your personal cubing style that you will develop. if you dont know your own style, i would reccomend getting a set of those 3 cubes guhong, f2, a5, and see which one you like the best. way back in the day before guhongs, a5 and f2 came down to personal preference and they were considered almost equal in popularity. when i had a5 and f2, i preferred the a5 more. but once i got a guhong, it is currently what i prefer, although i can still get the same times with a5, its just the feel that i like.

also, if you dont mind waiting for shipping from china, lightake.com is a good place to get cubes. depending on your location, you might want to goto local speedcube shops online. . sometimes they have quicker shipping and fairly reasonable prices. i wouldnt reccomend ebay, amazon, etc. . most speedcube stores have high praises from the community, as they are run by members of the community and/or they work very closely with our community (like in the case of lightake)
