Hi, I'm having some trouble understanding some of the new/ more advanced notation for speedsolving.

My first ailment is with the x, y and z axis, I understand it means to turn the entire cube, I think this is correct, but if I am wrong please say so:

red = U
orange = D
blue = R
green = L
yellow = F
white = B

an x turn would put green in front, while an x' would put blue in front?

similarly, a y would put yellow as the top and y' would put yellow on bottom, correct?

Thats it, I'm just checking to see if I'm correct.

X turns it away from you, x' towards. I think. o_O. Yeah, just check out the link in Leo's post.

The easiest way for ME to remember this is that

X = Full cube R
Y = Full cube U
Z = Full cube F

By "full cube"... it's like a slice that takes the last edge with it...

So in your color scheme example, if you did all three in this order, you would get Yellow U/Orange F(x), Yellow U/ Blue F(y), Orange U/ Blue F(z).
