Hi all.I'm new to this site so i hope i ask in a right place.

Ok...i use cfop method to slove a f2l and beginners method to solve LL

my best time is 1:04

problem is that my overall time depends mainly on how fast will i solve f2l (which varies) and less on LL solve.

what i want to ask you is

1. what should i learn to be able to solve it in about 30 seconds

2. my time to solve a cross (with edges lined up) is about 10-18 seconds which seems to much if you ask me.How could i do it faster?

3.When someone says he solved a cross in (say) 10 seconds, does it mean he solved line ups also or just a cross?

4.I know only about 3-4 OLL cases. Can i solve a cube in 30 sec without knowing it all?Same for PLL

i have solved it in 23 seconds using full fridrichs method... so yes you can solve it in 30 seconds without knowing it all... it just takes practice. im now learning the oll and pll. you just need to be able to recognize faster and turn the sides faster.

i think i recognize fast as i can.

my main problem is cross i think.i hope someone will help me about this one

After four months of cubing, I got 30.12 yesterday. I still haven't learnt the OLLs or PLLs and am just using the 8355 method. If your best time is 1:04 you should just be practising more instead of learning more algorithms.

By "solved line ups" do you mean that the side of the cross matches the center colors? If so, you should know that if the sides don't match the cross is not solved.

ps you should be posting this at Beginners Central

1. what should i learn to be able to solve it in about 30 seconds

Some people can do that with a beginner's method because they have great look ahead and super fast fingers. I think a number of people here can do that with F2L, 2 look OLL, and 2 look PLL. For me, to get in that range, I had to learn 2 look OLL and 1 look PLL.

2. my time to solve a cross (with edges lined up) is about 10-18 seconds which seems to much if you ask me.How could i do it faster?

That's not horrible at the stage you're at, but you should definitely be able to shave that down to 10 seconds or under with some effort. See more of my answer below...

3.When someone says he solved a cross in (say) 10 seconds, does it mean he solved line ups also or just a cross?

They mean a fully solved cross, including the side colors of the cross pieces lining up with the correct center caps. I'm betting that you solve the cross without lining them up, and then fix whatever is wrong? If so, I'd recommend you change your method. As you solve the cross, you need to know the color scheme of your cube. If you have it memorized, then you can solve the cross pieces so that they'll all be in the right positions without having to fix any.

For example, on my cube, when solving the white cross, the colors go in clockwise order: Blue, Red, Green, Orange. So if I solve them in those relative positions, the most I'll have to do when I'm done is adjust the U face until all four colors line up on the sides.

During your 15 second inspection, you should be trying to figure out where all four cross pieces go. This should help your speed also.

4.I know only about 3-4 OLL cases. Can i solve a cube in 30 sec without knowing it all?Same for PLL

As I said above, a lot of people get to 30 seconds and under with more simple methods than full Fridrich. You might get there with 2 look OLL and 2 look PLL. Or you might be able to do it with a beginner's last layer and really fast cross and F2L.

As you progress, breaking down your solve and individually timing cross, F2L, OLL, and PLL can help you figure out which part of your solve needs the most improvement. That will also tell you if you need more OLL and/or PLL help.

What part of This is not the place to ask speedsolving-related questions do you not understand?

Can a mod please move this to the Beginner section?

wOW...chill out all.

wtf is wrong with some of you guys?

Ok i made a mistake (which is pretty common for new users in any forums),but being so harsh and CHANGE MY TOPIC NAME in this!?!?!?!?!

That is highly unprofessional and inappropriate.

That can be done only by person with huge complexes

A mod actually added the "(and yes I'm too stupid for a meaningful title)" to your title? I agree, that is highly innapropriate!

My cross is 5 seconds, which is fast considering the rest of my F2L is 15-25 seconds (20-30 total) and my LL varies from 15-30 seconds. I have a PB of 45.

im at a similar level and solve exactly the same way as you do at the moment.

i got an orange cube 4 you cube recently (which is great) been practicing my cross and F2l. i clocked my best time 57 secs the other day and my previous best was about 1:07 i think.

the advice i took from here when i posted my first post, which was similar to yours, was to practice my cross, f2l slowly and recognition. Im still practicing and although im not timing myself all the time, i can deffinately tell im getting better and understanding where peices are going to end up etc

do the top cross, then you have 7 OLL cases to learn,
and 4 pll cases (edges and corners 3 way cycle)

and try to do the first cross as fast as you can,
figure out F2L tricks

You forgot the H and Z perms.
