Need help fixing my 3x3x3

Well I have my cube about a year or two but didn't use it all that much... got really into speed cubing about 7 days ago... from about Weds - Sat I used guitar pics to make my cube easier to move!! It worked PRETTY WELL... got my time up to 1.18.. yesterday I decided I wanted it to move faster so I took it apart cut off parts of the edges and sandpapered it down... only to find it's worse than ever! So today I decided to try silicone and took it apart, sprayed it and left it to dry, tried breaking it in for about 20mins... my cube is just as bad as it was yesterday, I can hear the spring of the green face when I use it D:

Is there anything I can do to fix this?? Or will I have to get a new better cube? If so which is best to buy? btw this was a rubik's brand :L
And my yellow stickers are fading -_- Thought they were a discoloured white for a moment...

Well there's your problem.

Any of the Dayan brand cubes should be fine. I'd recommend a Dayan Zhanchi.

I would just flat out reccomend getting a new cube. I'd suggest either a dayan guhong v2 or dayan zhanchi. Although they are pretty fast, you'll eventually get used to it.

You stick guitar picks inside of the faces(like stick it between the pieces) and it's supposed to make your centers loosen, so your cube will be faster.

Thank you!! I will probably order the dayan zhanchi later next week! After wasting €8 on silicone.... and I'd be terrified to use it on a new cube after that!! :L Yeah you put the pics between the pieces and it loosens them really well!!!!
