hi, i need help exactly on how to look forward during f2l... i cant seem to get it.. when looking for the nx pair what exactly do u all look for 1st? isit the edge or the corner piece 1st? i always cant seem to find the nx piece even by slowing down when turning already and end up getting it even slower.. any advice on it?

Practice practice practice!

Eventually you should be able to look at the cube and intuitively locate the pieces and know what algorithm your about to apply.

With more and more practice your hands will react instinctively to a situation rather than having to think about the state of the cube and then applying an algorithm.

Just remember that:
- Each corner can be put into it's slot with 3 different orientations
- Each edge can be put into it's slot with 2 different orientations

Once you make note of the orientation of the edge and matching corner you can apply an algorithm while at the same time you can be thinking about other pairs. You may even be able to execute algs to solve 2-3 slots at a time.

I found that the only way to improve my method of looking ahead was with practice. Not specifically only by solving F2L but by just solving the cube a lot :-P

What you could try if practicing slowly does not help you is two exercises:
1)
- find one corner/edge pair
- analyse the way you will solve it
- solve it without looking at the cube
2)
- find one corner/edge pair
- begin to solve it but don't set the pair in the slot
- look for the next corner and edge
- finish the solve of the first pair while following the movement of the corner and the edge you have just selected

If this is very easy for you and that you still don't manage to look ahead at all while solving the cube, that means that you are moving your cube too fast.
