ok so i learned the begginer way to solve the 2x2, using URU'L'UR'U'L to put all the peices in the right spot, and then a RDR'D' or DRD'R' to put yellows on top

from there i was trying to find a way to use the corner orientation algs (like sune and such) to fix the top. i found that a lot of these algs actually don't move the position of the cube relative to the other top peices, so i can permute and then orient the top to solve.

... the only problem i have ran into is that the alg i use to solve the tripple sune and chameleon shapes mess up my peices to put yellow on top...

so my questions would be: 1. Is this an efficient method? 2. If so, what algs could I substitute for those that aren't working. I tried searching the forums but this seemed too specific a topic.

Any help is appriciated. thanks =)

Not really efficient, and you should take a look at CLL. I'm sure they'll make good substitutes.
Or 2x2 specific permutation algorithms.

I'm not a 2x2 person, but that might help on your search.

What you want is 2 gen algorithms.
2 generators don't affect corner permutation.

A better approach than that would be the basic LBL method.
You just do orientation before permutation. Permutation is much easier to recognize this way and you dont have to worry about keeping your pieces permuted while doing OLL.

ah ok that makes a lot of sense. my algs for those were not 2 gen and all my others are. good to know =)

and it does seem much easier to recognize where pieces need to go once perm is done first, so i think i'll start practiciing that. at least 2x2 algs arent too tough
