START: 15 December
1. Sub-60 - 31 December (16 days or approx. 2 weeks since start)
2. Sub-50 - I would estimate around 13 January. (29 days or approx. 1 month since start)
3. Sub-40 - 31 January (47 days or 1 month 2 weeks since start)
4. Sub-35 - 5 February (52 days or approx. 1 month 3 weeks since start)
5. Sub-30 - 28 February (75 days or approx. 2 months 2 weeks since start)
6. Sub-25 - 20 March (95 days or approx. 3 months since start)
7. Sub-20 - I hope to get this by the end of this month.

I currently use F2L, full PLL and 2-look OLL (3LLL). My F2L and cross typically take anywhere from around 15-20 seconds, and everything else is last layer. I'm focusing primarily on improving my F2L; I am looking for more efficient ways to solve certain cases and avoid cube rotations.

How am I doing? What do you think of my practices (focus on improving F2L)? Am I neglecting LL too much?

Geez, I forget how dedicated kids are these days.

Honestly, you're doing great. I may be out of the loop a bit, but F2L is definitely what you should be concentrating. LL is easy to get good at, F2L is much harder.

Maybe learn full OLL after getting sub-20. Good luck.

Edit: I've been cubing since 2002, and I'm still not sub 20. So congrats for getting so far so quickly.

I second what cubekid said. You are doing very good. You did in a month what I could not in a year. Your focus on F2L is what makes the difference. 3LLL will take you very far (sub 20 probably). PLL recognition from any angle helps a lot, and the rest of LL is all about dexterity and finger tricks (repeat and repeat, in front of TV, pretending to read your email, etc. :-)

Good luck to you. Your progress is energizing!

6. Sub-25 - Soon. (Before the end of this month).
7. Sub-20 - I hope to get this by the end of this month.

???

I'm not saying that you can't do it, I just don't see that happening by the end of the month (which is like what, ~10 days?). It would be awesome and I hope you can prove me wrong. Will you post back in this thread when you get your first sub-20 average of 12?

Just to let people know, I got my first sub-20 avg of 12 in 3 months after I started speedcubing.

You're proof that it is possible.

Unfortunately, 3 months have already passed so I think by the end of the month would be a reasonable deadline.

Don't worry; I tend to have goals like that (see the Goals Thread: "sub-10 by the World Championships").

Just wait...;);)

I just wanted to point out that you had the same goal from sub-25 and sub-20, and it took you ~3 weeks to go from sub-35 to sub-30. Your progression is great... I'd like to see when you actually get that sub-20.

I'm waiting ;);)

I just finished an average of 12. Sub-25. Now all I need is sub-20 by the end of the month. WOOT.

Yep.

I think the main thing that contributed to my getting sub-60 in two weeks was all the free time I had during holiday. If I hadn't started speedcubing during the holiday season, I hypothesize I would not have progressed so "quickly" (at least according-to-all-of-you quickly).

Geez, I'm starting to sound like John F. Kennedy: "I believe this nation should commit itself, to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth."

Except my version is "I believe I should commit myself, to achieving the goal, before this month is out, of achieving a sub-20 second average and doing so with a storebought Rubik's cube."

Hmm... I started a few months before you and I'm level with you... scary... you'll probably pass sub 20 far before I do...

You're doing great by the way! I wouldn't seriously work on last layer until sub 20 (Not that I am sub 20, that's just what I'm told)
