So, the first cube I ever got was a Rubik's Brand 3x3 when I was about 8 years old on Christmas morning. I thought it was pretty cool. I started scrambling it up in two moves, and resolving it in the same moves. But my dad snatched from me and scrambled it up a LOT. So, after trying to retrace the moves and failing, I quit. After that, I learned about the 2x2. I thought "Hey, I should learn the 2x2 first, so I can get used to it, and THEN be able to solve the 3x3, because I'll have more experience. I got the 2x2, and learned to solve it.
I then realized that there were faster versions in other places. So, I told my parents that a NEW 2x2 would be faster, smoother and more quite than the one I had. They mostly did it so it could be more quite. I got my first speed cube, which was a Rubik's Speed. I really liked it. I never solve the 3x3, but I got better and better at the 2x2. Then, one day at school, we were sitting on the wall for a drill of some sort. The first 30 minutes were okay. But then it started getting SUPER boring. The girl next to me reached into her bag, and pulled out a Rubik's cube. I saw her solve it, and I was impressed. I asked her if she could teach me to solve it, but she said no. So I thought, Hm. I have a cube at home. Maybe I could go onto YouTube and figure it out for myself. So, an hour later, I was at home, with my cube, in front of the computer. It took me about a week before I figured it out. After that, I started memorizing the algorithms, and soon enough, I could solve it in about a minute.
I started watching Cuberothims and seeing that he had different cubes that were faster. I asked my dad to get one, but when he saw the price of it he said no. Because, of course, a good speed cube costs a lot of money. So, we decided that we would use lubricant. For doorknobs. *calm down* It worked a little bit but... y'know. Doorknob lubricant. I told him that it WAS a lot better, but it still wasn't a speedcube. He got sick and tired of the loud twisting plastic and the comments about how sucky my cube was. So, he broke through and got me an X-Man Tornado V2. I LOVED it. I wouldn't let go of it for days. I would BEG to stay up a little past my bedtime so I could cube some more. Eventually I realized that there were different types of cubes.
I decided that I would save up my money to buy some new cubes. I was scrolling Amazon one day for new cubes. I had about 11 dollars saved up, so I figured I could get SOMETHING. I actually got a pack of speed cubes. A mistake. They were QuYi and they sucked. I got a pyra, 3x3, 2x2, 4x4, and mega. Total. Mistake. I eventually kept getting more cubes though. Better cubes. I got a brand new Moyu Skewb with magnets (My first purchase from SCS). A GAN mirror cube (My first GAN). And a couple of others. Those two were from my grandparents. I got a Rubik's Impossible, and today, they sent me over a GAN 3x3. It doesn't have any magnets, but it's still pretty good. I'm trying to figure out what type it is though.
It has black inners, traced with a honeycomb sort of pattern. The same is for the core, but that's white, instead of black. The center caps open up to a see through, yellow mechanism that I'm pretty sure is the adjustable setting for how tight the pieces are. The cube didn't come in a box when I got it, so I don't have the name or the tools to adjust it. I was hoping maybe you guys could tell me, since some of you probably know a lot more then me.
anyway, ever since that faithful day, I've gotten better and better at it, making it my fulltime hobby, besides drawing and making music. This is pretty much my entire story in an extremely oversized nutshell.
