Moving from LBL to Fridrich... YIKES!!!!111

Well I am always more than happy to be pointed towards good guides on the subject as I think there's no such thing as knowing everything.

At the moment, I'm still practising intuitive F2L and I'm certainly getting better at it, but I do wonder if it's impacting on my speed just figuring the puzzle out for F2L rather than simply identifying patterns and repeating known algorithms?

Reason why I say that is because under LBL, I apart from the Cross and F1L corners, the rest is all just straight algorithms and once learned I was able to basically solve very consistently in speed just through recognition of patterns and responding with learned algorithms.

With F2L, I'm finding I constantly have to stop and actively think about the solution for each slot and it's probably chewing up a good 2/3 of my solve time, even with still employing beginners LBL to solve the last layer!

That is completely normal... the biggest problem with LBL LL hs always been recognition. But now I can instantly recongnize the cross orientation, and corner orentation(only after I started though... takes me about 2 seconds to find the corner, or say no corner.)

And what you need to work on for F2L, I think, is to work cases without looking, and then looking, but ahead.

Hm...

My recommendation would be to just push on through. Learn the corners only OLLs and all the edges only and corners only PLLs. After that, get F2L and lookahead down, then go for full PLL, and then full OLL, and then you can customize your method some (MGLS, VHF2L, EJF2L, etc.)
