I went to a smaller (55mm) 3x3x3 cube because my fingers aren't so long. Then I found that my slice moves were a little clumsy. I think this is due to having relatively thick fingers.
The other day I realized that my problems are only with the edge pieces, not the corners. And the real problem is that the corner pieces get in the way. So I took a white 55mm Zhanchi and trimmed the corners.

It seems that it's faster for me but I won't have real numbers until I've built up a new cube with my favorite colors (fingernail paint), lubed it properly, etc. Fortunately I've got a DIY 55mm black Zhanchi. I'll assemble it tonight. Maybe I'll have it painted up by the end of the month.
The feeling was that I didn't have to be as carefully lined up when doing slice moves.
