There are two ways to do an MBLD event in an hour.

  1. We aim for a safe number of cubes that we can sub-hour, which gives us peace to pull off the attempt nicely with some margin and hopefully be more accurate.
  2. We aim for a number of cubes which would make the attempt very close to the hour if everything goes right (memo, reviews and exec). There is more chances of blow-outs here as a lot of things can go wrong in an actual competition setting and there is less margin for error.

My personal take on ways to mitigate the frequency of crashes:
  • Meditate well before an attempt
  • Make sure we attempt 2 cubes less than what we can fit in an hour to account of things not in our hand (time management in comp setting, nervousness, bad judge, table setup)
  • Use multiple memory palaces so that there are less memo mistakes and crashes because of it
  • Do safe number of cubes always unless we are trying for a record or a championship podium

I'm curious how do you meditate?
There are a couple of ways,

The easiest ways are

to use guided meditation apps. I prefer to use medito available on the playstore

Counting on a necklace, we can just count or say a god's name repeatedly.

To increase observation skills and silence while travelling. I do this a lot as I have to travel 4 hours a day to work.

The harder forms of meditation that need preparation and years to get better at exist, but due to my fast life I do not work towards them. Let's see if I can get to the next level of meditation someday.
