So i just finished learning full mgls. yes i know, strange in todays world, but im looking to advance with it as a full method. would i want to learn alternate els's to orient more corners to get better cls cases. could also relearn TTLL o/-/+ for a small optimization or learn more ols cases like vls to push the ols even more.

Welcome to MGLS gang lol.

It’s pretty neat. I forgot a lot of CLS.
I think ELS CPLC 2GLL could be a potentially good option for big cube LSLL

I know TUL zb. I just look out for the diag swaps on the other 4 cross cases. Just looking for some interesting progression. I didn't know if it would be better to try to flip as many corners as possible during els. Or maybe even trying to place the corner in the slot with alt els algs whether it be solved or flipped to reduce case count and have more control over pll with more advance I and I'm.

I've been thinking about making an "Advanced MGLS" video series for the… dozens of people who might use it. The algs on my site are also out of date, and I've been meaning to update them for the last 9 years. 😆

In my experience, the number of misoriented corners isn't really an issue for me. Sure, I try to influence CO if I get a WVLS case, and it's certainly often nice to avoid four misoriented LL corners for CLS. But I think a large number of misoriented corners is only weakly correlated with a "bad" alg. Of course, someone else might find a lot of success trying to do it, but personally I've focused on:
  • Doing EO control during F2L. (I just did that on my OH PR!) Or just straight-up using full EO/ZZ so that ELS is at most AUF + 3 moves (and sometimes completely free).
  • Selecting ELS and CLS algs that I can do intuitively from multiple angles. <K, U>-gen (where K =R U R') algs are great for this because they can be mirrored easily.
  • Finding ELS setups that can generate a bunch of alg variations with fewer AUFs an regrips. I've recently taken a liking to [r U r' U r: U*] and similar algs, for example.
  • Finding ways to influence corner permutation.
    • For example, if you learn to use the inverse and mirror of r U2' r' U2 r U' r' U2 r U2' r', you can always place the LS corner piece from LL when all edges are misoriented (ELS E3). This turns the dreaded "dot OLL" into a powerful ELS family.
    • You can use commutator variations to do CP control for all +0 and -0 cases. In fact, I've started replacing a bunch of algs with versions that use a Sune to set up into +0. For example, R U R' U R U2' R2' D' R U R' D R can be split into two halves to do corner control: R U R' U R U2' R' (U') R' D' R (U2') R' D R. This is particularly easy to see for upcoming opposite-corner PLLs (Y/V/N), which can be turned into adjacent-corner cases.
    • Sort of opposite of last bullet: you can select CLS algs *end* with a Sune, which preserves relative CP and can be very ergonomic.. For example: R' D' R U R' D R2 U2' R' U' R U' R'. I've even started using R' D' R U' R' D R2 U R' U R U2' R' instead of setting up for the 7-move Sun mirror because it feels more consistently snappy.
    • You can use (U') R U' R' U R U2' R' U' R U R', its mirror, and triple sledge to control CP for O0.
I know that's not a very cohesive approach, but I suspect the power of MGLS comes out in more specific situations like this than any general approach.

Do you still rotate for many of your algs or have you converted some over. For example, F'suneF instead of rotating for that case. I would love to see an advanced mgls video!
