I recently ordered an MF8 SQ1, after reading some reviews it looked like a good choice over the others out there.

When I got it, the first thing I noticed is that it didn't come with stickers, even though the website I got it from showed it with stickers and didn't mention in the description that it didn't. I had ordered Cubesmith stickers anyway, so not really a big deal on that end.

But I quickly noticed that perhaps the quality was bad. Both end caps on the middle layer are pretty loose, and bowing out on one end. If I push the end in, the other pops out. The edge pieces all have caps on them that fall out very easily. Any movement of they layer and one pops out, if I put that one back in another will pop.

It is very stiff to turn, but it is new and not worked in or lubricated at all so I can't really say that is an issue.

Are most of them like this, or should I try a different one, or just glue the caps in place because otherwise it is unusable as is.

Thanks.

disassemble it, put a new spring in and washers, lube it with lubix or shock oil in the centre and on the tracks (but dont put too much), glue the caps that are falling off (its the same as an F2), do 1000 solves, it will be great.

I don't really think you need new spring/washers or need to do 1000 solves. 100 or so should do it. Mine was like that when I got it as well.

that puzzle has always been hit or miss but yeah superglue the caps except the middle layer caps try sticky tack or another method, could be the plastic piece that the threads of the screw go into needs to be placed properly or shaved down. then lube tension and enjoy

Well I glued the caps and lubed up the tracks with lubix... instantly better. Not great, but better. I'll work it in over the next while learning how to solve it. Have to say, pretty disappointed that it a.) didn't come with stickers. If I didn't order some I wouldn't have any for another few weeks, and b.) I had to finish the production process by glueing the caps lol.

Aside from those things, pretty decent I guess and should be quick once I get it worked in.
