most people reccomend fridrich (cfop). although roux and petrus are just as fast and definately worth checking out. next time use the one answer question thread for this sort of stuff =D. happy cubing.

Hate to be 'that guy' but surely it's a stretch to say that petrus is just as fast.

Here is a nice video by Badmephisto, which outlines the process of taking a beginners method upto full Fridrich/CFOP.

I would DEFINITELY recommend working up to Fridrich/CFOP. Some recommendations; do them in order:
Learn 2-look OLL and 2-look PLL (also known as 4LLL or 4 Look Last Layer)
Learn intuitive F2L (probably from Badmephisto)
Learn 1-look PLL
Learn 1-look PLL
Re-visit and improve your cross and F2L, maybe learn algorithms for the harder cases

I'm currently at the F2L stage; I have learned it and am currently just practicing and practicing. Practicing is the key, and don't rush, especially at F2L.

Just learn CFOP. Remember, F2L is most important.
There's lots of documentation and you won't be worried you'll never be sub-7

I recommend CFOP, it's the most widely used, it's standard advanced technique, fast, just as fast as others, but you need to memorize the 78 algorithms for the last layer. But don';t worry about that yet, you would just learn F2L, intuitive that is. Then when you're confident with your F2L, try memorizing at least some PLL and OLL algs for 24ooklastlayer.
4 look last layer is 2look OLL+2look PLL. It's the same as Full OLL+Full PLL, but except you do 2 steps, and you only have to memorize a few easy algorithms for both OLL and PLL (around like 20 algs total).

And don't worry about restarting to change to 2looklastlayer(FullOLL+FullPLL), 4 look last layer is a stepping stone for 2look. 4look algorithms are included in 2 look algs, and a lot of the algs are easy to memorize.
