I started this thread because the one thread I found was last posted on in 2008. I don't know if this should be stickied or not, but i am pretty sure it does not belong in the one answer question thread.

other people can post their unknown methods here

step one: white cross just like any one else
step 2: with the white cross on the bottom I move around the white corner pieces until the white sticker is in one of the top corners of the F side and line up the adjacent sticker on the same piece with its center i then use the move R U R' to put it in place and repeat to finish first layer.
step 3: I still have first layer on bottom, then I line up the 2nd layer edge pieces by putting them in the top layer and lining the edges up with the centers, thyen i twist to the opposite side of the color on the top of the piece
eg. placing a red green piece, I line up the red to the centre ( with green on top) then i twist it to above the blue centre, afterwards I bring up an edge peice and line it up using the same "alg" as in step two
step 4: in order to form the yellow cross I use the following F U R U' R' F'
step 5: oll, I just play around with R U R' U R U2 R'
step 6: to switch corners I use the alg R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F'
step 7: pll edges is as follows: M2' U M2' U M' U2 M2' U2 M' //// M2' U M2' U2 M2' U M2'
//// R2 U' R' U' R U R U R U' R //// R' U R' U' R' U' R' U R U R2

Is this one method or a mash up
Sorry for no pictures but thanks if you read it all

That is one of the many beginner's methods. It is a very simplified version of CFOP (without F2L), and is the method that badmephisto teaches in his beginner method video tutorials.

On another note, many methods have already been invented, so if someone is using a method, it probably has a name. The mods will ultimately make the decision, but I actually think questions like this would be fine in the OAQT

That sounds like basic LBL with 4+ look last layer (EO CO CP EP). Did you not start with LBL? This is probably basically what you started with possibly with some minor changes to last layer order.

Yep the std LBL approach :)

One tip for step 2: don't "just" R U R' (from your description I guess you also do this on the left side of the cube as L' U' L)
Try to use "any" way to put in the corner so also using R U' R' and R U2 R' stuff. Or slotting in the back: R' U2 R.

Incroporating it now will make it easier lateron if you ever decide to go with F2L

BTW: you do use R U' R' already :)
Check out the last three moves of the "alg" you use for the 2nd layer edges.
Try to use it for the 1st layer corners too if the corners is not yet above its slot.
