This post discusses my perspective of arbitrary mental division of resources to multitask during the memo and exec of an MBLD attempt. I assume the cognition I am actively using during a moment to be 100% and try to intuitively try to give splits of brain's resource usage.

The aspects during memorization are:
  • Tracing
  • Option select during parity
  • Remembering the current locus
  • Story / sentence making for the whole cube
  • Recall of previous cubes / packs (advanced to do it while we are reading new memo)
  • Choosing letter pairs or letter quads for the current memo (since not all LQs are coherent for me presently)
  • Time management

The aspects during execution are:
  • Recall
  • Cancelling moves between comms
  • Good turning
  • Thinkahead in current cube
  • Thinkahead for the next cube / cubes
  • Time management
  • Recall for cubes kept aside (for forgotten memo)
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My memo resource usage (during first pass):
  • Tracing (30%)
  • Option select during parity (5%)
  • Remembering the current locus (20%)
  • Story / sentence making for the whole cube (30%)
  • Choosing letter pairs or letter quads for the current memo (5%)
  • Time management (10%)
My memo resource usage (during subsequent passes):
  • Remembering the current locus (10%)
  • Recall of previous cubes / packs (30%)
  • Time management (60%)

My exec resource usage:
  • Recall (35%)
  • Cancelling moves between comms (5%)
  • Good turning (10%)
  • Thinkahead in current cube (10%)
  • Thinkahead for the next cube / cubes (5%)
  • Time management (30%)
  • Recall for cubes kept aside (5%)

Note: These splits are highly subjective and inconsistent throughout attempts. I have not build this statistics by analyzing my own attempts as it is hard to evaluate in such a way. These are just guesstimates for what is the likely percentage of my brain being used for each aspect in the memo and exec phase. I apologize if I went too much into a tangent or discussed an irrelevant thing according to you. Sorry for wasting your time if you feel so. I just want to be as descriptive as possible as MBLD is a hard event and I have to work smartly towards it since I have virtually no time to practice it.

During memo first pass, almost all my effort goes to making stories. I feel like the rest should be pretty much automated anyway. I really try to visualise the first word in the corresponding room, the rest I don't really visualise because it would be too time consuming for me.
During the second pass, I (obviously) mainly worry about recall. I also try to catch things in memo that I think I might mess up during exec (mostly letter pair order) and make sure I know it well. As for time management, that only really is a problem for me during exec.
During exec, I generally don't do much actively, because the recall is generally pretty automatic at that point, and the algs are in my muscle memory. If there is a cube I don't immediately recall, I put it aside for later. Exceeding the time limit for me means spending too much time trying to recall cubes I initially forgot.
