Median Average

@Stephan: If you do 5 solves but your cube pops on two occasions, you might avoid the 2nd DNF by fixing the cube and taking a very slow solve time. In my eyes, that slow time would affect the person's mean average unjustly. To me, the "median" would work better.

I would argue that it justly affects the average in a negative manner. A DNF and a pop are the fault of the solver, and if you make two large mistakes then your average should definitely reflect that.

Exactly. A know about a few people how doesn't count +2s or finish the solve with a messed up PLL at home, to get a closer average of "what it might have been". Honestly, I used to that too when I was an even bigger noob then right now and wanted to chase some magical time limit, which I thought would add anything special to my life.

This median would be almost the same. Use the average as it was meant to be. ;)

I remember Erik missing the WR average on 3x3x3 by a +2 (well it happened a few times) and people were saying: "Ahh, it's so unfair, +2 is only like 60% your fault...".
