[Unofficial] Maxim Chechnev on "Ukraine's Got Talent" show. Final.

Part 1
[3:50] Hello. Everyone knows that Rubik's cubes have different complexity: 3x3, 4x4 and even 7x7. But today I'll show you something unusual, something you probably have never seen before. Here are puzzles with 12 sides, not 6 like classic Rubik's cube. 12 colors. It is hundreds times more difficult to solve it than the Rubik's cube.* All three puzzles are scrambled in different ways. Now I'll try to solve one of it with closed eyes. Slava [one of the judges], choose 1, 2 or 3.
- 3.
- Thanks. I close my eyes and ask my assistant to bring me the puzzle number 3.
[whispering something about the scramble and sexy moves]
- I'm ready, let's go.
[6:30] Well, unfortunately I failed**. It seems I made a mistake. I ask judges for another try.
- Ok. I see it for the first time. How is it called?
- Megaminx.
- Ok. Try to solve number 1. [talking some stuff about numbers]
- If you allow, I'll take a look at the puzzle and take it my self...
- Ok
- ... because the problem might be that I take it in the wrong orientation***.
...
- I'm ready.
[9:11] Thank you. But this is not all. Like I said, it is hundreds times harder to solve this puzzle.* But now I'll show you something that is thousands times harder even this. Here are 3 11x11 cubes. Some professional can't solve it. Igor [name of another judge], choose 1, 2 or 3.
- Number 1 [talking some stuff about numbers]
- To be honest, this is the first time I solve it in live broadcast. So I ask you for silence.
...
- I'm ready.
[13:36] Thank you.

Part 2
- We continue, this is not all. Here is the final part of my performance. I need 28 cubes 7x7 for it. Each of these cubes has ciphered combination [:fp], and their sum represents a whole algorithm [:fp:fp]. I'll try to render this algorithm with my eyes closed.
...****/B]
- I'm ready. Let's go.
...
[5:05] Thank you.

*Megaminx is very similar in difficulty to a 3x3. If you can solve a 3x3, chances are with a couple of new algorithms you'll be able to solve a megaminx (plus it's scrambled in a way so that he knows what to do. *cough* cheater *cough*)
**Forgot his memorized algorithm obviously. If this was Britains Got Talent, he'd be gone without a second chance. I'm surprised they have him the time of day.
***Obviously embarrassed.
****Is he basically saying he had put the cubes in algorithms and just had to reverse them? If so, then he is basically getting applauded for doing something everyone on this forum can do?

I hope he doesn't win, simply because cheating is unfair. Someone link this thread and the semifinal thread to the judges, please

I don't think he'll win. As interesting as it is, there are acts which are more, well, exciting. Not to say cubing isn't exciting, but it can get boring after a while. If he does win, he'll have us to answer to. And if he had a sense of common decency, he wouldn't be able to live with the guilt.

If he had a sense of common decency in the first place he wouldn't have done it
I'm looking forward to the general public putting down our big multis and big blinds saying there's a Ukranian guy who can do it under a minute.

As a sub-10 5bld guy I can say that the show rather upsets me. Why should I spent a lot of time on practice, on learning new algs and so on if another guy on TV can do the same thing many times faster? 5bld used to be a show. But now the conception about what is a show and what isn't has changed. Max showed to the ordinary people that it isn't difficult to solve any puzzle bld, so people would think about, for instance, Marcell, who solves 5bld within 6 mins, something like "why on earth the guy is so slooooow".

Moreover, the show is called "Ukraine's got talent". But, in fact, what kind of talent must have a person to be able to solve a puzzle simply undoing moves? And the fact that the locals praise his skills and almost worship him proves only one thing - people are prone to believe in things they want to believe in. Even if they makes fools of themselves.

that mural could not have been faker. Like seriously, that just makes us cubers look like ass holes who exploit the general public's ignorance of how cubing actually works. Performing R R' and D D' over and over affects the cube in no way! Sure he did do a few actual moves, but nowhere near enough to justify the dishonesty in his performance!
I no longer support him in his effort to educate non-cubers.

It's pretty clear some of the thing he do r just for dramatic purposes, like the ridiculous pause at the end of the 11x11 "solve". I will even go as far as suggesting that the producers made him do this.
