The core is misaligned. If you spread the edges you'll see the core is misaligned, just like a V6 misalignment. Marus do this a lot. Just try to turn it and somehow pull the core to a center area then it'll work.

the internal mechanism came out of alignment. . it is one of the major problems of the maru. pull open the centers on all sides and you will see that you cannot see the 'screwheads'. split apart the edges and you'll probably find it there. then, just find which side (r or l) moves the screw around. which ever side moves the screw, grip that side very tightly and try to move it back inbetween the centers. . .

I loosened the screws to the point were I get full edges pop sometimes. And yet it has only misaligned once. I swear I'm the only person who got a good maru.
