Lubing Cubes

"Second, the cubes were really hard to turn and were not prepared for serious speed cubing. The organisors should have prepared well greased cubes and not a bunch of tools for excersizing finger musles!" -

They're already lubing their cubes, hmm I think, this idea is came from the early cubers. weeee. or yeah just like blade740 said, the Hungarians. haha. :P

It seems to me that the first speedcubers would be very quick to come up with lubricating cubes to make them turn better. I don't think people who were simply playing with the cube or analyzing it would be likely to do it, but if anyone cared about solving for speed they'd probably have tried lubrication within the first few weeks. It might not be possible to determine who did this first, but if you really want to know it might be useful to ask certain very early adopters of the cube (Rubik, Singmaster...).

cookingfat, do you have the company name which made this advertisement?

sorry, I don't. It was just sent to me as an image.

its Bouge Industries. says so on the little order form cutout.

But on topic: I imagine that there was a parallel development of lubing. I'm sure cubers in America, Europe, and Asia all came up with the idea to lube thei cubes without consulting each other. Just like how Lucas developed MGLS and Erik and Mitchell thought of SS without ever talking to each other.
