I don't think this has been discussed before, but I had an idea for a fun challenge.

How well can you scramble a large cube 6x6/7x7 using only 10/15 moves?

I think I've had some pretty convincing scrambles using just 15 moves before, so it would be interesting to see what other people could do with even less.

6x6: (m/e/s are middle two layer slice moves, M/E/S are middle four layers. I'm not familiar with SiGN notation, so I'll use them)
3r' 3f 3r2 3u'
m' e'
M2 E2 S2

Meh, some stuff still left...
s2 m'
Good enough...?
Full 'scramble': 3r' 3f 3r2 3u' m' e' M2 E2 S2 s2 m', 11 BSTM (?).

E: and a 4x4 one (not what you asked for, but it's just 7 moves so I'll post it anyway):
r' f r2 u'
M2 E2 S2

We should have at least a basic definition of "well scrambled". Possible options:

  • Pieces are well mixed.
  • A human is unlikely to be able to solve it.

One way to achieve the latter is to produce a scramble that does *not* mix all the pieces, and produces confusing parts that appear to match.
