Hey all, I'm new to speed solving but enjoying the scene and progression very much. I am currently practicing with a Gan 11 M pro 3x3x3 and using a phone app to record my times. I've got 400 solves documented and my avg/100 is currently 58 seconds. I'm still using the beginner method but am thinking about improving my cross and learning intuitive F2L to speed up my times. My fastest solve recorded is 43.5 seconds and my current goal is to break 30 seconds and get my avg/100 under 50 seconds.

I've been casually solving the standard rubiks brand 3x3x3 for 12 years or so since I was in middle school and only recently was gifted a set of twisty puzzles and fell in love with them all over again. In my small collection I've got the megaminx, pyraminx, skewb, 2x2x2, 3x3x3, 4x4x4, 5x5x5, mirror 3x3x3, mirror 2x2x2, and windmill 3x3x3.

My favorites to solve are my Gan 11 M Pro, 4x4x4, Gan Megaminx, windmill + mirror 3x3x3s. I love the 3x3x3s that are funky or off axis like the windmill and mirror, and would love any other fun suggestions in that category. Also, my 4x4x4 recently broke/crumbled in the middle of a solve so if anyone has any suggestions for a solid magnetic 4x4 I would love to hear it. My only experience with magnetic twistys is with the Gan 11 m pro and Gan Megaminx, and I enjoy the feel of those very much.

Thank you for having me in the community and I look forward to learning much from you all. Cheers!

For casual solving a great budget option would be the meilong m 4x4, and for a little bit more the MGC or X-Man ambition.

Maybe try some other methods instead of CFOP. Like Nautilus or Mehta

Welcome!

You should be able to reassemble it, assuming the plastic isn't cracked. (it isn't fun, just FYI)

if you're looking for a new magnetic 4x4, I'd recommend the MGC 4x4. Also I've heard great things about the Ambition 4x4, but I've never tried it so I can't say much.

Also, I'd like to echo @Rouxvolutionist about trying new methods. Definitely try Roux, ZZ and Petrus; and maybe novel methods like Nautilus and Mehta as well. They're really fun and you might find yourself enjoying them much more than CFOP (which is a relatively stale and uncreative method unless you happen to be Tymon)

Thanks so much for the info. Unfortunately the 4x4 that crumbled actually broke one of the internal plastic pieces. And thank you for the 4x4 recommendations as well. Now I'm very interested in learning more about the other methods, again thank you for all the info, that's really helpful.

Welcome! As others have said, you can’t go wrong with the MGC or the Ambition. Also, the mastermorphix, the fisher cube, and the axis cube are some other fun 3x3 shape mods that you might enjoy!
Solid that's awesome I'm definitely interested in other 3x3 mods! I'm gonna check all of those out tonight.
