Lack of 3x3 Practice?

Hello all. Until now, I haven't really taken to cubing sites. That being so, I really don't have much of an idea as to what is expected in speedcube progression.

Lately I've been much more attracted to solving a 7x7 than any other puzzle, especially a 3x3. It's brough about worries that, because a 3x3 is a good portion of any speedsolve (other than methods like K4), I haven't been practicing a 3x3 enough to make further efficient progress.

I currently average about 32 seconds on the 3x3 and 7:15 on the 7x7.

So my question for you experienced people is basically whether I need to drop the larger cubes and practice the original more. Are my times strangely disproportionate? Does it even really matter?

You should make sure you have a balanced time of practice for each puzzle. What I mean is if you do one hour of 3x3, you should do one hour for 7x7. That way, one puzzled isn't put in first for importance.

I don't think that's right...I don't spend 5 hours of my day cubing...anyway...

It really depends on which event you want to eventually get a world record in.
But seriously, if you like 7x7 more, do it more. It's not like you have to do anything.

yes, your times are slightly disproportionate. i was averaging 24s for 3x3 when i got a 55s average for 4x4 (after a lot of practice) simply because I don't practise 3x3 as I don't really like it xD
but again i don't use reduction...
but for odd layer cubes (except the 1x1) I have to use fridrich...so I'm starting to practise 3x3 a little bit more in an attempt to bring down my 5x5 and 7x7 times.

I'm pathetic. My best average for 3x3x3 is sub-14. And I haven't even gotten a sub-10 single for 7x7x7.
