ive been trying to learn the k4 method for 4x4 and ive memorized all the algs i think i need but i keep geting 4:00 min solves and with the reduction method i can get just over 2:00 min so if any one can help me plz do so

p.s. i know the practice portion of it

That's a pretty vague request.

It's all obvious to me, so I don't know what to explain to help you.

As ever, you can get loads of advice from here

I posted a new 4x4x4 video today actually, and my youtube channel has more vids for you to pick up tips from.

Otherwise, you're going to have to be more specific.

A good understanding of commutators is helpful, and I doubt you have one if you're asking these sorts of questions - so try getting used to understanding how all the algorithms work ^_^.

well i have no trouble with the algs its the block building portion of it and looking at the website i have trouble with steps 2 through 3
especailly 3 (i know i cant spell)

Step 3 is pretty much the same as in the reduction method. You're just doing (l'rR) / 3R instead of x.

Step 2 just needs practise. It's best to do lots of slow solves where you try and create the block efficiently.

Also, you don't have to make a 1x3x4 block in step 2, you can just make 3 edge pairs and solve the corners later during F3L.

i was thinking cant you just make all the centers first like in the reduction method than you can just skip the block building part

You still have to build your edges.

That's a really bad idea. The whole point of doing the block/3 edge pairs at that stage is because you have enough freedom to do it efficiently. If you solve all the centres first, making the first layer becomes very difficult.

blockbuilding at the beginning is one of the main things that helps k4 go more efficiently than reduction method

Wrong. The movecounts are pretty comparable.
