Just how fast can you get with the beginners method? I did an experiment to see.

I use Roux and I am sub 15. I average 12 seconds per solve and my turning speed is about 5 tps. I decided to put this to the test. How fast can I get with beginners method? With the beginner’s method my solves are about 100 moves as opposed to about 60 moves that I average on Roux.

Theoretically my solve should be about 20 seconds. I had to stop and think a bit because it’s been so long since I used the beginners method. My Ao5 ended up being 23 seconds. Close enough 😅

Well done! I'm sub 25 with Roux and I still average about 45 with my beginners method.

Already too deep into cfop can’t change my method. I always wondering what roux was like tho.
Give Roux a shot, maybe just for a weekend. Even just some of the intuitive block building might help with your F2L. Sometimes a new method can be a fun warm up solve, who knows, it might turn into your new main. It's intuitive, it's fun and if nothing else it can help you understand the puzzle better which is always a bonus.

I had a friend who used beginners for a long time. He got surprisingly fast, I can't remember exactly how fast but it was at least sub 20 average, and it might've been closer to 16 or so. If I remember right, he even got a sub 10 single with beginners.

What beginner Method do you use?

Cross and LBL is similiar for most, and usually also the first oll step.
But there are big differences in the last layer.
I learned it with sune sune for OLL and then U-Perm and A-Perm for PLL.

If I teach it to beginners now, I show them to flip corners with R' D' R D to complete OLL and then T-Perm and U-Perm

Others use sune for Edge PLL and flip then.
I guess there are many more beginner methods

I use LBL, then for LL, this is how I teach beginners. Permute the cross edges with a sune and an AUF, then use an algorithm to permute the corners, then orient using R’ D’ R D.
