I'm sure most of us are aware of the clock pin regulation being removed, and as a result many clock records are being broken.

Are there other examples of this in WCA history, where a regulation is relaxed and there is a wave of records?

Idk about a wave of records, times didn’t seem to spike from this, but I think this reg gave a wave of new ideas and methods.

Table abuse in OH has given methods like Roux a spot to be good, and it gave a WR and a 2023 champion.

Table use has been legal since 2008, it just become more common in the past few years

In 2007: During the solve no other body part or the table or any other available object must touch the puzzle.

I would guess allowing magnets had some impact on records. I don't know if it resulted in an immediate wave of records, but it certainly has influenced what records have been set in the past.
Magnets were never banned, though.

Not sure about a wave of records, but allowing stickerless cubes had a major impact on which cubes are produced more and therefore set more records - nowadays it's actually hard to find stickered versions. Plus as a community we swapped so fast from "everyone has custom sticker shades" to "everyone uses stickerless cubes" once they were legalized.
