So I had this idea of a new type of SmartCube and speedsolving trainer robot (like Gan Robot)

First of all, how does a traditional smartcube work?

Smartcubes today have Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to pair them with your smartphone, tablet, or computer. This enables you to send the cube's state in real-time to the connected device. However, these smartcubes are expensive and very sophisticated.

There's a relatively inexpensive way to create a magic cube using magnets. If you have 27 magnetized cubies, you can create a magic cube relatively cheaply. All you need are materials like plastic and magnets, which you can 3D print at home or buy for cheap on the internet.

If we combine this with technology like NFC, by putting a chip inside each cubies or even QR codes on a cube side that's not visible when the cube is assembled, facilitating scanning by camera, we can place an identifier in each cubie. This would allow us to have a kind of magic cube training robot. Imagine the following:

You have two of these cubes. You place one of the cubes inside a machine, and the machine scrambles it for you, literally disassembling it into layers and then separating the cubies, reading the NFC tags or QR codes to know which cubie is which. Then, it reassembles your cube and gives it to you scrambled in a specific position, determined by software (it could be a fully scrambled cube, a specific algorithm, or a random case like an OLL or F2L case).

You would always have one cube scrambled and another being scrambled while you're training, maximizing your training session.

What you guys think??

For the actual cube it sounds like a good idea, cheap and easier then bluetooth, and could help to reduce the weight too, but the robot would probably end up being the same price as the current smart cubes, sort of defeating the point. Even just looking at the GAN robot, which is nowhere near the level of taking a cube apart and reassembling it, is about the same price as a good smart cube. If costs could be reduced somehow though, I can see his being a very viable replacement to smart cubes.

But what about the turning quality 😭

I like the idea of having a scrambler robot, but GAN made one and idk if it's worth it. I would think most speedcubers can do a scramble way faster than the GAN robot.
yeah maybe the scrambler robot/assistant etc is not that good idea

but I think the magentic mechanism cube idea and internal piece identification are worth a try. I'll try making a prototype when I have the material. Gonna work a little with python and opencv too to make it work

I like the idea of a scrambling robot. Reduced stress on the hands from manual scrambles and mindless scrambling.

I think the Gan Robot can do random scrambles...at least Gan promised that feature a few years ago. I thought there were some open source programs for random solving too.

I actually enjoy scrambling at competitions. It's a great warmup I think, especially for events like clock where turning accuracy is key.
