[Help Thread] I want to magnetize my meilong 9x9

Do you really want to? Diansheng magnetic 9x9 is only $62 on SCS rn and I guarantee it'll turn better than any meilong

I mean my dad already got me one

and I think it's a fun project cause it's snowing over here in canada and I can't do much
ok be ready to spend like 10+ hours on it, probably a lot more. well if you do it a lot faster than let me know. it took me a few hours just to reassemble my 7x7. but you may not need to disassemble completely

Magnetizing a 9x9 is a very strenuous and tedious process. Even after magnetizing, the Meilong 9 is not great, and has a lot of breaking issues from what I've heard. I recommend saving up for a better one.

That being said, if you really want to go through with the process, have at it.

Magnetizing a 9x9 is not that hard:

Take the cap off one center. Tape together the middle 49 pieces of the same side. Unscrew and remove the screw from that side. Lift off the entire center in one piece. Disassemble the edges and corners from the layer just exposed. Magnetize them. Put one edge set back in place and rotate side to get a new set of pieces to magnetize. Magnetize them. Repeat. When done, put all edges and corners in place, drop the center on top and screw together.

There's no need to take the entire cube apart or have any difficult reassembly.

Also, the new Qiyi 9x9 is excellent. Best magnetic 9x9 on the market.
