Note to mods: Move this to the How-to's section if you think it belongs there.

For quite some time, I didn't have a 4x4. My Rubik's 4x4 pops too much and it became so loose that the corners catch onto the centers and cause even more pops. Then I bought an Eastsheen, and it is much better (in my opinion). Then several cracks formed on the plastic around the screws and it eventually broke. I didn't get around to buying a new core/cube, so the pieces remained in a plastic container for a month. Then I came across this thread (more specifically, this post)and thought that it would work in a 4x4, but alas, it did not because the internal mechanism keeps becoming misaligned. Then waffle=ijm explained that the corner on the core is there to prevent that from happening. Later on, I came up with a working fix that has made it harder, better, (slightly) faster, and stronger. :D

I apologize if any of you were expecting high-quality images like DAE_JA_VOO, my camera isn't as good as his :o

What you will need:
Eastsheen 4x4 with broken core
Type A core, screws, large washers- I used the newer ones that are slightly shorter
Plastic card (defunct credit cards, gift cards, etc)
Scissors/Xacto knife
Ruler
Marker
Awl
Tape
Epoxy

First of all, you need to cut 2 1.4cm x 1.4cm squares out of your plastic card. I taped them together to form a right angle and used an awl to make the holes for the screw to screw into the core. Next, I made a hole in the remaining plastic card and fastened it onto the core to make the last piece(this way I made sure that it would fit as I am not very accurate). Tape it to the other 2 pieces and make sure that there are no holes.

Fill it with epoxy to reinforce the corner to the core.

When the epoxy has fully cured, you can start assembling. Here's a guide.

It fits!

(sorry about the blurriness, but you get the point)

If the internal mechanism still becomes misaligned, then you will have to play around with the screws and it will eventually go away.
