I can't get my magic to go flat again. I've been trying to understand how this thing works, but I dont really get it. I'm just sitting here trying random stuff and nothing is working really.
Are there any algorithms or tricks I can do to try and get this straightened out?

well you can just keep on doing random things. Or you could look up a magic tutorial on youtube. They will usually show how to put the magic back into the scrambled state.

Gah, I've got it stuck again -__-
I've had this thing in essentially the same configuration for about 2 hours now, and can't find any way to flatten it out. I have it in the shape of a capital L. It looks like this:

|#
.###|

The # indicates the panels and the | show where its connected. Its essentially a loop, with a pair of the panels up above instead of all in a line. It's similar to the magic at the beginning of the video moogra posted, but it doesn't flip the same way.

Any ideas for this?

Well i'm so fed up with it at this point that I think I might just go buy a new one. It just keeps cycling through the same patterns over and over.

HOLY CRAP! literally 10 seconds after i posted that I flattened it out!!!!

Hopefully I wont have any more 4 hour solves in the future :p

Comments like this kill me. Magic is a PUZZLE. Would you just keep buying new 7x7x7's if it won't be solved after some random turning?

Seriously, there are a limited amount of different 3D-shapes and if you play with it for a while and remember the following rules:
1) Single tiles are bad, try moving 2 of them closer to eachother and connect them
2) If you get the simple fish, push in the nose
3) If you get the beautiful fish, hand it over to me or Alexander

In my opinion, the easiest way to quickly get where you can eventually solve a scrambled magic is to learn Arnaud's all-flipping method of solving Magic (and Master Magic). Once you can do that, you can usually solve a scrambled Magic one piece at a time, starting in one corner, just by flipping. Some positions get difficult (and you have to give up a little ground on the way), but if you're willing to play with it a bit, you should be able to solve almost any case, without even worrying too much about getting the puzzle flat. Just solve one piece at a time, and at the end, it will be flat (and solved!).

I'm very slow at solving scrambled Magics, but I can pretty much always solve one using this method.

Found it - here:

Also I'll mention - sometimes you can't really solve it all just by flipping, but you will get the idea of how you have to move the pieces to get them to go the right directions. Then you might have to do some creative twisting to get where you can do the next bit of flipping. So some of the solving of a scrambled Magic still takes some experimentation, but with some patience, you should be able to eventually solve it.
