how would i have this time anyway?

Those how to be sub 20 guides are estimates not definate results.
I say you should improve F2L as you took 30 sec to complete F2L.
Slow down and look ahead, and learn algorithms for bad cases.
A new cube can help, but is not essential, people such as user 5BLD got sub 15 with a storebought.
Your LL, just practise, its okay but 14 sec ll isn't going to get you sub 20

You should look-ahead, and practice you won't become sub-20 immediately, it took my 9months to get from 1:20 to 18 so you just have to hang in there be patient and practice some tricks (fingertricks and execution)

1.) Practice your f2l, lookahead and such
2.) Practice your LL algs, and get better ones for non-fingertrick friendly ones
3.) A better cube might shave 5-10 seconds, depends on how slow yours is now
4.) did i mention practice? cuz thats important

I followed everything everyone told me. they said I should now have sub 20 times. but now i still average 40 seconds. what should I do?

What i know:
Fridrich f2l( and look-ahead)
2 look oll( no use learning full oll)
Full PLL(All 21 algorithms.)

HAHAHAHAHA, NO USE learning FULL OLL??? You'll never get anywhere with that attitude. Do you know how useful it is to learn it? It's GREAT! You don't have the stress of worrying about edge orientation, you don't have the stress of worrying about which alg is going to come up, whether or not you're going to have to orient edges, or whether you'll have a dot, line or L. All you have to do is look at the case and do the alg. Sorry, but you're just being lazy and trying to take the easy way out. If you even get down to sub 20, you won't get much faster with 2 look. I've seen people get sub 10 times with it, but it's very rare and that was with a triple X cross. Don't worry about sub 20 until you get sub 40 and sub 30. To do that, slow down, look ahead BETTER, learn better F2L cases (no matter how good you think yours are), LEARN FULL OLL or at LEAST some more cases, practice F2L from ALL angles, get a decent cube, but NOT one that will be better than you (get a C1, F1, F2, or a GOOD storebought), and just keep practicing! Stop trying to rush to sub 20. You'll get there if you practice properly.

My storebought is GREAT! All I ever did was lube it, and my lowest time on it so far is 13. His cube looks like it just needs lube.

Cornelius Dieckmann.
But tell me, why is it that faz doesn't count? Because he is good?

EDIT: To the question you edited into your post, it was quite awhile ago: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...-OLL-time-gain&p=440748&viewfull=1#post440748
Osorry, it was sub-9, not sub-10. And yes I am aware only 6 of the solves actually required 2 OLL algs, but 10 of the 12 solves were sub-10, so don't bother trying to make that point.

EDIT2: Corny's was here: http://www.speedsolving.com/forum/s...-if-I-do-these&p=576044&viewfull=1#post576044

Why do you think I'm going to try to find some sneaky way to counter this? Hahaha, I'm a reasonable guy. If you're right about something, I'm not going to find a cheap way to argue with it. I didn't say it was impossible, I just said it was rare, and when I said Faz doesn't count, I just meant because he can do anything. He is an exception to just about anything with cubing, so he's just automatic. It's like one of my old drummers. He was always the best, and wouldn't let anyone be better than him. He could play anything, and if someone was better, he'd always kill himself to beat it until he did. He was an exceptional drummer.
