How to take out the ball-bearings in a pyraminx?

How do you take out ball-bearings in a QJ Pyraminx without damaging the plastic too much.
I managed to get one out, but I think it was just sheer luck..

You have to take off the tips, unscrew the centers... The rest should be obvious.

But why would you ever do that?
