How to practice?

Lets put it this way

Doing x amount of solves isn't going to improve your times.

Doing x amount of solves while realizing what can be improved and what's wrong with your solves will not improve your times.

Doing x amount of solves while realizing what can be improved and what's wrong with your solves AND actually trying to fix them will improve your times.

I agree and disagree with this.

You have to think about when you are at about 30 seconds. Solving without a purpose made me faster, made me pass that mark. Of course I was learning algorithms, but those weren't close to the fine-tuning I have them now. More solves themselves expose you to more cases, and you learn what to do certain times, whether or not you are actually consciously learning.

However, this is true when you get faster. Trying to pass the 20 second mark is REALLY hard for me right now, as I can AO5 pretty easily, but I still can't AO12 easily. (I'll see when I get my C-II) I have to figure out what I'm doing wrong, isolate my steps, and discover what I'm doing wrong. And sometimes with the cube in your hands you can't figure that out. That's why I've been recording solves and stuff, so I can look at where my errors are.

All in all, keep solving, but after you have fun, figure out where you went wrong.
